Turbo Browser
Privacy Policy
Effective November 2, 2026
Turbo Browser is a web browser with a built-in download manager. This policy explains what information the app handles, where it is kept, which services it connects to, and the choices you have.
In short
- Your history, bookmarks, passwords, and downloads are stored on your device. We don't run a server that receives them.
- You don't need an account, and the app doesn't show ads.
- We never sell your data or use it for targeted advertising.
- Firebase collects anonymous usage statistics and crash reports. It never receives the web addresses you visit, what you search for, or the names of your files.
1About this policy
This policy applies to the Turbo Browser app for Android (the "app"). "We", "us", and "our" refer to the developer of the app.
Most of what the app does happens on your device. When a feature needs the internet, the app connects directly to the website or service involved. This policy lists those connections so you know exactly what leaves your phone and why.
2Information kept on your device
The following stays on your device. We don't have a server that collects it, and it isn't included in usage statistics.
- Browsing data: history, bookmarks, open tabs, quick links, and your search history.
- Saved passwords: encrypted with a key protected by the Android Keystore. Viewing them requires your fingerprint, face, or screen lock.
- Website settings: the permissions you gave to sites (location, camera, microphone) and the sites where you turned off tracking protection.
- Downloads: your download list, the downloaded files, download settings, and video playback positions.
- Preferences: your search engine, language, theme, the weather location you picked, and your temperature unit.
- Translation language packs: once downloaded, translation runs entirely on your device.
Private tabs are not saved to your history or search history, and they are not restored after the app is closed.
Media detection
To find videos and other files you can download, the app looks at the requests the current page makes. This analysis happens on your device and nothing is sent to us. Media detection is turned off on Google and YouTube websites.
3Usage statistics and crash reports
We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand which features are used, and Firebase Crashlytics to find and fix crashes. Google processes this information on our behalf.
What is collected
- An app instance identifier generated by Firebase, your device model, Android version, app version, and language.
- Your approximate region (for example, country), which Firebase infers from your IP address.
- Feature usage events, for example that a download started or finished (with its type and size), that a setting changed, or that a search was made and with which search engine.
- For crashes: the technical error report and the state of the device when the app crashed (such as free memory and orientation).
What is never collected
Usage events never include the web addresses you visit, the text you search for, the names or links of your downloads, or the content of pages.
Advertising ID
If your device provides an Android Advertising ID, Firebase Analytics may read it. We don't show ads and don't use it for advertising. You can reset or delete it at any time in your Android settings (Privacy › Ads, or Google › Ads).

4Services the app connects to
Some features need to contact other services. Each of them receives your IP address along with the information described below, and handles it under its own privacy policy.
Websites and download servers
The websites you visit and the servers you download from receive your requests directly, like with any browser.
Search suggestions
While you type in the search bar, your text is sent to the suggestion service of the search engine you chose (Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, or Baidu; Perplexity uses Google's suggestions). This also happens when you search from a private tab.
Safe Browsing and tracking protection
The browser engine, Mozilla GeckoView, downloads lists of dangerous websites and known trackers. When a page looks suspicious, it may send a short partial hash of its address (not the address itself) to Google Safe Browsing to check it. Tracking protection lists and other security data are downloaded from Mozilla.
See the Mozilla and Google privacy policies.
Page translation
Pages are translated on your phone and their text is never sent anywhere. The first time you translate a language, its language pack is downloaded from Mozilla.
Weather
To show local weather, your IP address is sent to GeoJS (get.geojs.io) to estimate your city. The approximate coordinates of that city, or of the city you picked, are sent to Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) for the forecast and air quality. When you search for a city, the name you type is sent to Open-Meteo's place search.
Weather data by Open-Meteo.com, licensed under CC BY 4.0.
News
The home page loads public news feeds and images from Yahoo News, Google News, and BBC News, chosen by your language.
Website icons
Website icons are loaded from the websites themselves. When you add a quick link, its address is sent to Google's favicon service to fetch the site's icon.
BitTorrent
BitTorrent connects you directly to other people sharing the same torrent. Trackers and peers can see your IP address and which torrents you download or share. The app may load a public tracker list from trackerslist.com.
QR code scanner
Scanning uses the Google Play services code scanner. The camera image is processed on your device by Google Play services; the app itself does not get camera access for scanning.
Voice search
Your speech is handled by your device's speech recognition service (for example, Google) under that provider's policy. The app only receives the recognized text.
Google Play
The app may ask you to rate it using Google Play's in-app review, which is handled entirely by Google Play.
5Permissions
The app asks for a permission only when you use the feature that needs it, and you can change your mind in Android settings at any time.
| Permission | Why it's used |
|---|---|
| Internet and network state | Loading web pages and downloading, and pausing downloads on mobile data if you choose "Wi‑Fi only". |
| Notifications | Showing download progress and completed downloads. Requested the first time you start a download. |
| All files access | Listing and managing your downloaded files on the Downloads screen. |
| Location, camera, microphone | Only when a website asks for them (for example a map or a video call) and you allow it. The app remembers your choice per website unless you tell it not to. |
| Foreground service | Keeping downloads and media playback running when the app is in the background. |
6How long information is kept
- Information on your device stays until you delete it in the app, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app.
- Usage statistics and crash reports are kept by Google for a limited time under Firebase's data retention settings, and then deleted automatically.
- Information received by websites and the services listed above is kept according to their own policies.
7Your choices and controls
- Clear browsing data in Me › Clear browsing data: history, search history, site data and sign-ins, cached files, and site permissions.
- Delete individual history entries, bookmarks, and saved passwords at any time.
- Use a private tab to browse without saving history.
- Tap the icon in the address bar to review a site's permissions or turn off tracking protection for that site.
- Choose a city for the weather instead of your network location.
- Turn individual notification types on or off in Android settings.
- Reset or delete your Advertising ID in Android settings.
- Uninstalling the app deletes everything it stored on your device.
8Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, California, or China), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information, to object to its use, and to receive a copy of it.
Because almost everything is stored on your device, you can view and delete it yourself in the app. For usage statistics and crash reports, contact us and we will help to the extent we can identify information related to you. We don't sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Firebase servers may be located outside your country. Google protects transferred data using the safeguards described in its privacy terms.
9Security
Data the app stores is protected by Android's app sandbox, and saved passwords are additionally encrypted. Connections the app makes to the services above use HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so please also protect your device with a screen lock.
10Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
11Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. When we do, we'll revise the date at the top of this page. The current version is always available in the app under Me › Privacy Policy.
12Contact us
If you have questions about this policy or your information, email us at the developer address shown on the app's Google Play page.
